WORST TRAITS:

PERSONALITY:
CLEVER AND QUICK-WITTED: Kate is not of above-average intelligence; she’d consider herself quick average when compared to the other people in her Hogwarts graduating class. She does, however, think differently. Though versed in logic, Kate prefers a different approach of thinking: out of the box, unique, different. In her line of work, this type of thinking is to her advantage, but in day to day life, Kate is often known to over-think things or simply create ridiculous ideas that have no bearing whatsoever. However, when she’s right, especially at work, it’s never a bad thing.
HARDWORKER/WORKAHOLIC: Because she can never back down from a challenge, Kate spends most of her time at work, doing work, or simply thinking about work. True, it’s a blessing to love the line of work that one is in, but for a person like Kate, it is also a curse. She is a dedicated researcher at the hospital, but she rarely takes vacation and always spends her free time pouring over books, running experiments, or simply sitting and thinking about the next step in her scientific method. She yearns to discover and develop, explore and experiment.
UPTIGHT/IMPATIENT: Though ‘uptight’ is a rather harsh word, it’s a true one. Kate has little patience for mistakes and loss of time. She is to the point and determined, not allowing others to hold her back (for whatever reason or circumstances). When she is working, researching, experimenting, it is best not to disturb her, or you’ll experience a whirlwind. Her impatience spans from the length of some experiments and frustration, to simply being annoyed that someone is late. For Kate, this is not a fickle trait. It’s pretty consistent.
SARCASTIC: Pretty self-explanatory. This is definitely a trait taken right from Aunt Cindy. Kate simply exudes a dry cynicism that can be quite irksome, but also the cause of much entertainment. Her short fuse in both patience and tolerance and her sarcasm link together quite nicely…for her at least. How others view the matter is probably quite different…
LOYAL: All the Wood women have a fierce loyalty that runs deep in their blood and veins. Kate picked up the trait right away. To family and friends, Kate is forever dedicated. Though she is known to argue easily, especially with friends and family, there is nothing she wouldn’t do for them.

HISTORY:
Juliet Wood loved Aiden Brewer. She never really had a good, solid reason why; there simply were too many. It was never meant to be though. Leah Roseworth, Juliet’s best friend, was (unbeknownst to her) soon to be engaged to Aiden, and the last thing Juliet wanted to do was interfere with two of her best friends’ happiness. Days were tough, but Juliet tried her best to forget her feelings. A loyal friend, she vowed to never act on them, no matter the circumstances…
But what happens when circumstances, such that you’d never imagine, occur? What happens when Leah kisses her ex-boyfriend? What happens when Aiden gets angry and upset and confused? What happens when the one man you’ve always loved comes running to your home, defeated and depressed? What happens when talking turns to consoling and consoling turns to cuddling and cuddling leads to kissing and kissing leads to…
April, 2023
You always watch other people live their lives. They go through happiness and through hardship. Never would you imagine that other’s hardships could happen to you. ‘No, the chances are too small…No, I haven’t done anything to deserve that….No, it just can’t happen to me.’
I’m twenty-two years old. I have a life, a career, a beautiful future ahead of me, and I let my guard down for one night. One night. Now I’m twenty-two years old and pregnant, due in January of next year. I will forever share my life with my child. Who knows what’s going to happen to my job? Who knows what will happen in the future?
My name is Juliet Elizabeth Wood. I slept with Aiden Brewer on March 22nd, 2023. I am having his child, and he is marrying my best friend. I’m bearing the love child of a man I love, but who can never love me. Great story, right?
Starting her pregnancy with little optimism, Julie kept herself hidden; she could cover her bump with relative ease, wearing fluttery shirts and jackets. Too scared of what her friends and her family might think, Julie held out until the end of August. Hiding herself became more and more difficult, and keeping the secret of a baby from her sisters and friends was becoming stressful. She was tired and sick, the heat of summer no help. One friend took notice of Julie’s loss of spirit and energy. At a ‘get together’ lunch at the end of the month, Teddy questioned Juliet as to her disappearance from their social circle and as to her change in disposition and moods. After hours of nail-biting and denying and Teddy’s persistence, Juliet spilled her secret. She told Teddy about Aiden’s appearance at her house that night, how she wasn’t mentally strong enough to resist each increasing move he made on her.
A true, loyal friend, Teddy confronted Aiden about the night in March. Imagine Aiden’s surprise: one screw-up night turned into a child? During that confrontation, Juliet knew that she, herself, had to tell Leah. Facing the fiancé of the father of one’s child couldn’t be an easy thing, especially when that fiancé is your best friend. How could Leah take it well? She’d been deceived by both her significant other and her best friend. Needless to say, as Teddy was leaving Aiden’s fuming with rage, Juliet was leaving Leah’s with tear-strewn eyes.
It seemed like things would never be the same. Julie couldn’t face Aiden or Leah. Teddy and Victoire were caught between the knocked-up friend and the happy couple, so she found it difficult to stay close to them (not wanting to pull them on either side of the fray). Julie’s sisters were her only comfort. She told Cindy and Felicity shortly after the truth was revealed to Aiden and Leah. The reactions were completely different. Though confused and saddened by the circumstances, both girls were elated for their sibling. Their cheeriness, acting as though this situation, that Juliet had viewed as horrible, was a happy thing, made all the difference in the world.
And it was Cindy and Felicity, no one else, that were at St. Mungo’s. Katherine Felicity Wood was born on January 4th, 2024. The happy baby brought joy of no reservation to her mother. It was as if all the fright, sadness, anger, and regret Juliet had felt just disappeared. Simply holding the little blessing in her arms, Julie vowed to always cherish her child. She would never regret the night with Aiden, she would never put herself or him to blame. How could she view the night that created her precious gift as terrible?
Having left her job at Hogwarts upon learning about the pregnancy, Julie had no reservations in deciding to move to the English countryside. Surrey provided a beautiful little town for Julie to raise her child in, far away from Aiden and Leah and anything that could deter from the pairs happiness. Months turned to years, and by age six, Kate had already developed a personality of her own. She was spontaneous and thoughtful, but had a spitfire attitude that could be triggered by anything. Julie saw much of herself and her sisters (especially Cindy) in Kate (probably due to the many and multiple visits both sisters made to the countryside over the years), and this fact brought her even more joy.
A couple months after Kate turned eight, Juliet received a long, interesting letter from Jasper Fuller, still the headmaster at Hogwarts. He was inviting her back to her previous position as the Hogwarts Healer (her replacement had taken a job offer at St. Mungo’s). Remembering Juliet’s calm, devoted nature towards the kids, she was an obvious, desired choice. Naturally, the idea of going back to London and to Hogwarts was a scary one. Facing the people she had so avoided for years would be difficult, but in the long run, it was in Kate’s best interests. Julie knew that Hogwarts was the best wizarding school in all of England, and she wouldn’t want Kate attending any other institution. Financial stability would be provided and more, and, most importantly, Kate could finally meet her father. Though this reality was one she wished to ignore for years and years more, Julie knew it was time.
Weasley Christmas used to be huge, now it was just overflowing. James and Ellie, Cindy and Francis, Felicity and Hugo, Lily and Lorcan- only a few of the couples (don’t forget all their children!!!) that were present. Teddy and Victoire were extremely welcoming and comforting to Julie, but facing Aiden and Leah was a different experience. It was awkward, for sure, and having the entirety of your extended family (plus some) there to experience it with you only made things harder. Surprisingly, the relief was…Kate. Enlightened throughout her life as to the identity and persona of her father, she had many questions for Aiden. It was almost heartwarming, seeing the pair together on the couch, Kate interrogating away while Aiden merely looked baffled, answering to the best of his ability.
Years continued on, and the groups started to see more of each other. Julie and Kate would attend almost all family gatherings, but she would never see Leah or Aiden outside of them. Teddy and Victoire were a different story. Forever grateful of Teddy’s friendship and loyalty, Julie considered them her closest friends (apart from her sisters) and a wonderful influence on her daughter.
Off Kate went to Hogwarts, and even though she saw her mother almost every day, Julie couldn’t help but feel a little sadness at her daughter’s movement forward in life. She was growing up. Hated fetus to treasured infant to adored toddler to happy child. Hitting adolescence was the next step, but as much as Julie loved seeing her daughter soar, she just didn’t want to let go. She was proud of the enviable friendship the pair had, their close bond, their equal confidence in one another. That would be enough to keep her strong, and let Kate move on to Hogwarts and beyond by herself, ready to experience.
Hogwarts was fun, to say the least. Kate, throughout her interesting upbringing (what with having an estranged biological but not literal father, and a not so steady income from her mother, who also happened to be one of her best friends), developed a tough outer core. She cared not for what other people thought of her. Being perfectly happy to just be herself and ignore the whispers of others made going through Hogwarts a very painless, even enjoyable experience. Kate made close friends, was a pretty rockin’ beater on the Gryffindor team, made it through her classes, and even had a couple quirky boyfriends here and there. By the time her grade reached the age where gossip and making fun was ‘so last year’, Kate was considered a pretty cool kid. She hadn’t stepped on many toes (other than those that had tried to prove her wrong or tried to pick a fight).
Exiting Hogwarts was pretty easy too. Wanting to enter the same field as one’s mother opened a lot of doors. Juliet had some pretty great connections in St. Mungo’s, the most interesting being the head of research. A lover of challenges and deep thinking, Kate leaped at the opportunity to work in the division. After almost a year, she was fully immersed in their circle and culture. She even bought a small flat down the road from the muggle-world entrance to the hospital.
With work starting to consume her life, and without a care in the world, Kate’s just living life the way she wants to. With her mother and aunts by her side, she thinks that nothing can take her down. Will Kate find something that will make her vulnerable? Will it finally be her work, or will she find someone who just makes her world turn upside down? Will the relationship between her, her mother, and her father, and her father’s wife get any better? Does she want it to? Let’s find out
