One would think that over the years, Gryffindors and Slytherins would have learnt to get along. It might be true for certain people. After all, the Slytherin house is slowly losing its reputation for being the house where most dark wizards are sorted into. Those who are sorted into Slytherin are simply ambitious and willing to do whatever it takes to get their way. Gryffindors? They’re the usual reckless and loyal people they always are. There’s been a rivalry in almost every generation and this time, it’s no different.
This time, it’s the girls.
GIBBS, SCAMANDER and WARRINGTON met on the train ride. GIBBS was alone. SCAMANDER had wandered away from her twin brother. And WARRINGTON was lost. SCAMANDER met WARRINGTON first, before dragging her into GIBBS’ compartment on the train, after asking if it was alright they sat with her.
BREWER, POTTER and SHACKLEBOLT were childhood friends. They were family friends and had been friends since any of them could remember. They were inseparable and when it came to going to Hogwarts, all three were excited as could be.
Somewhere along the way, someone offended someone. Perhaps it was GIBBS, who offended POTTER with her dominating personality. Or maybe it was SCAMANDER, whose mother was not a fan of the Shacklebolts, making things difficult for SHACKLEBOLT at every chance she got. Or perhaps it was WARRINGTON, who had something of an unfriendly rivalry in her studies with BREWER. Either way, the Slytherin girls were not a fan of the Gryffindor trio, and vice versa. Throughout their Hogwarts years, the respective trios made life hell for each other, but nothing was ever too serious.
Until GIBBS made a move on MCLAGGEN.
MCLAGGEN and POTTER were well known to have what was called a friends with benefits thing going on. Everyone could tell that POTTER wanted more than just that, but MCLAGGEN was someone who didn’t like to be tied down by something called a girlfriend. When GIBBS made up her mind to flirt with MCLAGGEN just for the sake of getting POTTER riled up, she figured that she might as well go all the way to see how POTTER would react. Needless to say, POTTER was not pleased.
MCLAGGEN didn’t see what the big deal was, he’d made clear that he and POTTER was not exclusive. That was in their sixth year. And now, in their final year, POTTER and her friends are planning to embarrass the Slytherin girls in any way they can. Pranks? Getting better grades? Making them look bad in front of Professors? Nothing was going to be off limits.
