The Lupin family has always been warned about associating with Slytherins, mostly because of their father’s experience with one Dorian Gibbs. And well, Slytherins in general. LUPIN, for the most part, listened to what was told. She was among the first of the next generation to enter Hogwarts, with her mother teaching her. Her Hogwarts years were nothing spectacular, she got good enough grades, had her first kiss, got her heart broken, had her father threaten to beat up the student who did so. Her life was normal, as normal as it could be until BURKE showed up one fine day in her sixth year.
He was precisely the type of guy her father warned her about. And she didn’t listen. Not when he came up to her all of a sudden and asked if she wanted to go on a date with him. She knew who he was, his father had made public the fact that his own father bribed him to marry his wife in The Daily Prophet just a few weeks ago. Not really thinking about it, LUPIN agreed to do so. Their first date went well, though she kept it a secret from her mother. It was no surprise that eventually, she was doing what her mother was doing, entering a relationship with a Slytherin. LUPIN didn’t see what was wrong with it, since her aunt Dominique had even married a Slytherin.
After BURKE graduated and the summer before her final year, LUPIN bumped into MACMILLAN, a rival of hers. MACMILLAN told LUPIN that BURKE was only with her because he was dared to, to see if he could get someone who disliked Slytherins to go out with him or even enter a relationship with him. It wasn’t a very pleasant meeting, with MACMILLAN taunting LUPIN and LUPIN refusing to believe it. That is, until BURKE showed up. When LUPIN confronted him, he admitted to it. LUPIN slapped him and that was the end of their relationship.
MACMILLAN was extremely pleased, seeing as BURKE was supposed to be hers. His grandfather had even arranged a marriage between them both. She had thought BURKE was just toying with LUPIN, but she knew him better. He’d fallen for LUPIN, even if he wouldn’t admit it to himself. MACMILLAN decided to take matters into her own hands and figured this was the way to go about doing it. What happens now? Will LUPIN realise that BURKE did love her, even if it was all part of a dare? Is BURKE willing to go through with the marriage to MACMILLAN, or will he break free of the hold his grandfather put on him? And just how will MACMILLAN continue to make life difficult for LUPIN?
