PERSONALITY:
Nathaniel Longbottom is the type of boy that just sort of works his merry little way through life without too many cares. He doesn’t really get angry at anything; it’s not his nature. Sure, like any person, he’ll get frustrated or annoyed, but he would never really be able to hold a grudge against someone unless they did something so completely horrible that it landed them in Azkaban. At the same time that he’s not easily angered, it can be annoying to some people who just rage and vent and want to break things. It frustrates them that he doesn’t get as emotional, and often it makes them angry at him in addition to whatever it was they were angry about in the first place.
That being said, he’s also a horrible procrastinator, somewhat careless, and has just a tiny bit of the awkward Longbottom genes in him. He’s not as bad as, say, his older brother Danny (whom he likes to bother almost mercilessly), but he’s still not the smoothest around the ladies. He doesn’t fear about that, however, since he’s only 15. He has a whole lifetime of being flustered by the opposite sex to be worried about. He’s a good mate to have a laugh with or get into shenanigans with. He doesn’t take his studies particularly seriously and has earned the title of ‘slacker’ from many of his professors. He’ll focus on stuff he cares about, but learning boring, seemingly useless things about pigmy puffs just isn’t on his list.

HISTORY:
To be honest, Nathaniel Joseph Longbottom hasn’t had all that interesting of a history. Yet. There are still many years ahead of him, he’d like to think, and has plenty of time to actually go through anything of interest. Instead, he had a fairly normal upbringing in a fairly normal household. Well, as normal as any wizarding household with four awkward little children could have. He supposed that it was all relative, really, and that for a wizarding family they were pretty normal. Every time he went out into the muggle world, he found their habits and the like quite strange. In fact, the first time he really realised the difference between muggles and wizards was when he went in a car with his muggle friend.
And started crying. But the poor little Nathaniel was only five years old and didn’t know why he was getting strapped into a large metal box that suddenly began to move. It was a terrifying thing for the young Longbottom, and ever since he has been quite traumatized by cars. There were a lot of instances like that growing up, just the weird little things, that sort of shaped Nate into the boy he is today. He grew up as the third Longbottom out of the gaggle and was therefore sort of in the middle. He certainly wasn’t the oldest, but he wasn’t the baby of the family either. He was just sort of there, making trouble with his siblings and eating his parents out of house and home.
If anything, it’s his skill at packing away a copious amount of food without gaining an ounce that could be seen as his most interesting accomplishment in his young life. When he got his letter to Hogwarts it was nothing out of the ordinary. He grew up with the notion that he would get into the famous school of witchcraft and wizardry, and he did. Why wouldn’t he have gotten in? And, much like many other members of his family, he found himself in Hufflepuff. It was a good fit. He wasn’t the most bravest creature you’d ever find, he certainly wasn’t mean and cynical, and yet he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the box. That’s not to say that he’s unintelligent, it’s just more likely that he’ll win an eating contest than a spelling bee.
