PERSONALITY:
As a Hufflepuffian, you can bet your checkered socks that Ethan is a good guy, through and through. Bad with lies and being mean, he does his best to keep any and all mischief under the radar. That being said, we must acknowledge the fact that he manages to slip quite a few things past the vigilant eyes of the Hogwarts staff. Though he's a hard-worker, he believes that skipping class at least once a week is healthy. However, when caught, he admits his crimes respectively. Though it's strange, he doesn't really likes lying. If asked a question, no matter how self-incriminating, he'll answer honestly.
Of course, Ethan isn't perfect. He's a sweetheart, don't get me wrong-- but he can be a little naive. Even though he's built like a linebacker and has unrivaled skill at Charms, he is far from intimidating. Killing, death, evil, all of it is just a bit foreign to him.
Also, he's usually the last person to realize that a girl has a crush on him. Dummy.
Which brings us to our next point.
Now, girls, don't run away with this, but Ethan is a bit of a romantic. Besides being charming, sweet and gorgeous, he respects women and isn't scared of love. Be it due to having four sisters and a single mom is just one theory, but he definitely beats most guys out for most mature in a relationship. Though he can be a little picky when it comes to his dream girl, he's never rude or presumptuous. But if he found that one lady, he'd treat her like a goddess.

HISTORY:
Born in June of 2026, Ethan was the first child born to Abbie Mather. There is precious little that Abbie and Ethan know of father, whomever he may be. She was impregnated by a man she'd met at a pub and had gotten drunk with. When she awoke, she couldn't remember what had happened, and the man was no where to be found. Lo and behold, a few weeks later, she discovered she was pregnant. The lack of his biological father in Ethan's life doesn't seem to have affected him negatively (he gets on well with his step-dad), but he would like to meet the man one day, if just to know he existed.
A question raised often by those who know of his history is over his blood status. Is he half and half, or a muggle born? As Abbie couldn't so much as recall the man's face, it seems unlikely they will ever find an answer.
Even with the tragic loss of a father, though, Ethan never struggled with sadness or loss. Addie Jo Mather met Carter Huxley mere months after Ethan was born. The man was a college student going into pediatrics. Carter immediately fell in love with Ethan, and his mother.
Married barely a year later, they settled down in a small townhouse in Brighton and started their family. The twins, Blanche and Sara, were born just a year later.
Then came Bebe. Ethan was only six, and the twins were barely two.
In the three years that ended with Maddison's birth, The Huxley's and Mather's moved a little further into the country to provide their bairn with more space to play.
Despite the large number of children and his young age, Ethan adored his sisters to pieces. For some reason, he formed the strongest bond with Bebe. He was her hero and she was his sidekick.
Everything was going swimmingly-- until an old-looking envelope arrived on Ethan's eleventh birthday.
The idea of a magic school baffled both Abbie and Carter and they tossed the letter after reading. Besides, Ethan was happy at his school.
But the letters came, and came, and came.
Each had instructions on how to access a place called "Diagon Alley".
Disbelieving, but intent on sorting the whole matter out, Abbie and Carter dropped the girls off at the sitter's and drove out to London with Ethan.
Sure enough, they followed the instructions to a tee, even tapping the bricks. When the wall magically opened into a doorway, and the street filled with bubbling cauldrons and robe-covered people, Abbie thought she would faint.
Immediately, they searched the alley out, and witnessed too many strange things. How was that floating? Was that cat talking? Wands?
After asking assorted velvet cap wearing peoples about this school Hogwarts, they realized this was no prank.
Of course, they left the decision up to Ethan, who had spent the entire trip gazing around in awe. His instant answer was, "Sign me up!"
And they did. Thus, Ethan Mather became a Hogwarts student.
Since being at Hogwarts, he has been well-liked and decently popular. It's not uncommon for him to write a letter to his sisters and his parents on the weekends, and he loves sending wizard candy home to them.
Also, this year, they discovered that his younger sister Beatrice was also a witch. Both Bebe and Ethan were ecstatic to find that out, though their siblings were all atrociously envious.
As Ethan tells them, being a wizard isn't always so great.
