PERSONALITY:
Despite the common belief that all Slytherins are just pure evil, Erika is actually a kind, patient young woman. Intelligent by nature and quick as a whip, most people place her as more of a Badger than a Snake. Maybe even an Eagle.
But behind her fair facade, there is a train wreck of a girl, fighting to get free. Independent by nature, Erika doesn't like displaying her emotions much and letting her problems down on other people is a major no-no. This can be extremely unhealthy, because as a wildly emotional girl, bottling up all of those feelings can only result in something akin to torture. Much in the Slytherin fashion, she is willing to do just about anything to keep her life as normal as possible. This means restraining every powerful urge to lean on a boy's shoulder, or cry into her friend's arms. She won't let herself relax, because she starts thinking too much (she fills her time with exercise and homework). Erika indulges in no forms of creative works, for fear of seeing something grossly painful fly from her pen.
Basically, she's a smart, kind, workaholic.
As for her relationship with the people around her, Erika has an amazing talent. Everybody, no matter how long she has known them or spoken to them, manages to stay at arm's length. No boyfriends, no BFFs, none of that. Too much emotional involvement.
If you haven't guessed, she fears any type of connection, for in her opinion, it will all end painfully no matter what.

HISTORY:
Raised in Godric's Hollow, in the midst of many other happy wizarding families, was Erika Oakley. Both her parents were grotesquely wealthy, and had come together in a need of even more wealth.
However, when two attractive people such as Aaron and Scarlett Oakley come together, things are bound to... happen.
Exactly one month after their celebrated marriage, Scarlett discovered she was pregnant.
The child, Erika, was a beautiful, healthy girl. Brought home on Christmas, she was like a gift from above. At least, she was to one of her parents.
Aaron loved his daughter whole-heartedly. She was quick on her feet, even as a child and was a delightfully expressive thing. Only an ambassador for the Ministry at this point, he was rarely at home, but when he was, he spent all of his time with little Erika.
Scarlett was another matter. All of her life, Erika had something wrong with her. At the age of nine, her mother scolded her for applying make-up wrong. For getting a B on her test in school. For being a poor student in Charms.
If it wasn't perfect, Scarlett wouldn't accept it. Even then, improvement could always be made.
As a child, Erika just thought that was how all adults women acted. But after starting school at Hogwarts, she met women everywhere with more kindness and generosity and love in their pinky fingers than her mother had in her whole body.
Still an ambassador, Aaron was still very rarely at home. Erika was under constant scrutiny by her disapproving mother. Her dress wasn't pretty enough when the school dance came around, of course, so her mother sent her something new. Erika had hid in the corner for the whole dance, because the dress was so revealing.
But what was she to do? Tell her mother 'no'? The thought never occurred to Erika, because she didn't even know she could. Even her father listened to everything the woman said, and Erika definitely followed his example.
After the incident at the ball, Erika grew to loathe her mother. So many people would've been a better parents. They wouldn't tell her that they looked a little too thin-faced, or not curvy enough to attract a boy. They wouldn't tell her that she needed to work harder, both mentally and physically, even when she already worked herself half to death. They would tell her, 'Good Job!' and 'I'm Proud.'
The day that her life ended was just a year and a half ago. She was almost fourteen when her parents announced their impending divorce.
When Erika asked why, she discovered that her father had gotten a promotion as the Adviser to the Minister and would have to live in London. They told her their marriage had been dying, and they'd held out the charade long enough.
Though she begged to come with him, she couldn't live in the apartment by herself (he would be with the Minister almost constantly over the summer, visiting around the world and staying late nights at the Ministry). Aaron wanted her to have a parent around at least some of the time, and with Scarlett only working assorted weekends, she was more than sufficiently present.
Now using her parents as a model for all people, she doesn't believe in any form of long term relationship, and fears short term too much to even try it. Women in general offend her, and she despises herself for not good enough to surpass her mother's standards. In the end, though she hates the woman, she lives for her approval.
As her father has yet to do much more than write a few assorted letters to her, she has little faith in the sincerity of love. Like many teens, she may have blown her situations up a bit, but such a situation is understandable. She spent so much time on herself that she never found any real hobbies or friends to distract herself with.
